PERCEPTION & REACTION TIME ANALYSIS
In vehicle accidents, we usually need
to determine the available perception & reaction time for a particular driver
before we can determine if that driver had an opportunity to avoid the accident.
Generally speaking, this is the time it takes for a driver to see an object, decide if the object
is a threat, and decide on an action to take to attempt to avoid the object.
In some cases, an object appears so quickly that there simply is not enough time
to avoid it. In other cases, a driver may be inattentive and not react to
the object,
even though there was ample time to avoid the accident.
